Managing Partner of The Pruitt Group, Ltd., a boutique public relations and Governmental advocacy consulting firm specializing in technology-focused government policy advocacy/lobbying activities which he founded in 1995. Prior to establishing The Pruitt Group Ltd., he has served as President of the Washington Strategic Consulting Group, Inc. and Senior Government Affairs Advisor to Washington & Christian, a full-service law firm that specialized in Governmental advocacy.

Mr. Pruitt also serves as Managing Partner of Watts Partners, a subsidiary of the J.C. Watts Companies, a full-service strategic legislative and political consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., that provides a comprehensive range of professional services, including corporate and government relations, communications strategy, public relations and U.S. and international business development.   

As an over 40-year lobbyist/advocate, and as a key Congressional staff member, he has worked closely with US Federal agencies, Members of Congress and staff who make fundamental funding and policy decisions affecting state and local governments, corporations, tribal and foreign nations. He also is a Founding Partner of the Black Television News Channel and currently performs Government Relations and Regulatory Activities as the channel builds toward its on-air presence.

During Mr. Pruitt’s distinguished professional career, he served as Executive Vice President for Operations of the United Negro College Fund (“UNCF”) where his responsibilities included management of UNCF’s Information Technology Services, Administrative Services, Human Resources, Government Affairs and Communications Departments.  He also served as Executive Director of the Committee on the Budget of the United States House of Representatives and as a senior legislative and political advisor to Congressman William H. Gray, III, the former Majority Whip of the United States House of Representatives and Chair of the House Committee on the Budget. 

Mr. Pruitt's Washington and professional experience also include service as Staff Director of the Census and Population Subcommittee of the House of Representatives, Committee on Post Office and Civil Service, Director of Congressional Relations for the AFL-CIO Public Employee Department, Assistant Director of Legislation for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union (AFSCME), Special Assistant to former United States Senator Howard Metzenbaum (D-OH) and Campaign Manager for the first African American candidate for the Office of Mayor in the Company of Columbus, Ohio.

Mr. Pruitt resides in Washington, DC and Greenville, Mississippi. His hobbies include golf, photography, tennis and working with computers. Mr. Pruitt is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.  He was born in Columbus, Ohio where he was educated in the public schools. He completed his undergraduate, graduate and legal education at the Ohio State University.
